Philadelphia trolley photos from
the Harry Foesig Collection
At the turn of the twentieth
century, moon-lit postcard views enjoyed widespread popularity.
This hand-tinted view looks east from the eastbound platform of the 32nd Street
Market Street elevated station.
City Hall tower is still the tallest building in Philadelphia, and would be
for decades to come.
The el was torn down when the subway was extended to 44th Street in 1955.
The "high line" freight railroad bridge visible in this photo still crosses
Market Street at 31st Street.
