Philadelphia's Fairmount Park
Trolley: 1896 - 1946
The Fairmount Park trolley
line and its supporting infrastructure were extremely well-built.
The coal-fired electrical power plant, which still stands today, was designed
by Axel H. Engstom and Edwin B. Ives.
Six boilers powered three stationary steam engines built by Robert Wetherill
& Company
which in turn drove three General Electric 500 kilowatt generators.
