Philadelphia's Fairmount Park
Trolley: 1896 - 1946
Fairmount Park Transit Co.
trailer car no. 50 at Woodside Station in West Fairmount Park.
Of the original fleet of 70 Brill-built trolleys, 20 were closed cars and 50
were open cars.
Of the fifty open cars, 20 were motorized and 30 (including this car) were trailers.
The rail in the foreground was used to store trailer cars on busy days at Woodside
amusement park.
In what appears to be a staged photo, a man in uniform with his hand on the brake handle
appears to operate a trailer that could not move on its own.
Photo date is circa 1946.
