Philadelphia's Fairmount Park
Trolley: 1896 - 1946
Fairmount Park Transit Co.
trolley rolls north over Willows Bridge trestle in West Fairmount Park.
With nine steel spans totalling 362 feet long, Willows Bridge was the largest
on the line (Strawberry Mansion bridge excepted).
In 1958 the location of this trolley bridge was totally obliterated by construction
of Interstate 76 / Schuylkill Expressway.
The white building at the top of the hill on the left is Chamounix Mansion,
today a hostel in the Hostelling International network.
Photo date is circa 1946.
